Setting it up
-
Set your device language
Open Settings → General → Language & Region → iPhone Language and pick a supported language — for example English (UK). If your device is already in a supported language, skip this step.
-
Set Siri to the same language
Open Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri → Language and pick exactly the same language, including the region.
⚠️This is the rule that trips almost everyone (it caught us too). English (US) on the device with English (UK) for Siri means no Apple Intelligence toggle at all — the two must match exactly.
-
Restart your device
Switch the device fully off and back on.
💡The Apple Intelligence toggle often appears only after a restart — even when everything else is set correctly. Restart even if nothing seems wrong.
-
Turn on Apple Intelligence
Go back to Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri. The Apple Intelligence switch now appears at the top of the screen — turn it on.
💡On iOS 26 the switch may turn on automatically after the restart. If it's already on — you're ahead of schedule.
-
Let the model download
Keep the device on Wi-Fi and on the charger while the on-device model downloads. Progress shows in that same Apple Intelligence & Siri pane. It usually takes 15–60 minutes.
-
Open Lampira
Open Lampira → Settings → Intelligence. The Apple Intelligence row flips to On automatically — Lampira re-checks every time you return to it, so there is nothing to configure in the app itself.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| The toggle still isn't there |
|
| Status stuck on “Downloading” | Leave the device on Wi-Fi and the charger overnight — the model downloads in the background at Apple's pace, and power + network is what unblocks it. |
| “Not supported on this iPhone” | The hardware can't run Apple Intelligence. You're not out of options: connect a free model running on your own computer instead — see the guide below. Lampira gives you the same private answers either way. |
